mix n match mismatched socks

What should you do with orphaned socks that come out of the dryer alone?  Make cute tabletop and windowsill planters!  Orla Kiely, the exquisite Irish Anthropologie designer, showcased this lively simple craft idea in Rachel Ray's EveryDay magazine:
First, slip orphaned socks over jars, glasses, small plant pots or plastic waterbottles, then snip off the sock bottoms so the planters sit flat.  Fill with soil and plant a plant... Done!  Wasn't that simple?  They don't have to be planters, you could use the containers as organizers for pens, bookmarks, change etc!  I used these lovely two tone grey knit socks because I wanted a few planters for my bedroom and they match the laundry pile on the floor!!
