street art

Merriton Heritage Bins: 50+ oil drum style trash bins in the city's south end micro-community have been hand painted with spiffy murals by students from 3 area schools.  Some of these eye catching designs focus on historical events in Merriton's past while others highlight local sporting figures and they have all gained wider attention after winning the CiB Ontario Award of Excellence for Communities in Bloom.  Trash bins are a necessary part of keeping our streets clean but they needen't be an eyesore - more towns should follow Merriton's lead!
